Security and Hand Luggage Updates
Manchester Airport has now installed Next Generation Security scanners across all lanes. This means a much faster process, though it is important to stay updated on the specific rules for 2026:
- Electronics: You no longer need to remove laptops, tablets, or hair straighteners from your bags.
- Liquids: While you can now leave liquids inside your hand luggage, the 100ml container limit still applies at Manchester. You do not, however, need to place them in a separate clear plastic bag.
- Speed: Early data from 2026 shows that over 90% of passengers are reaching the security lounge in under five minutes, though arriving two to three hours early is still recommended during the peak school holiday weeks.
